About
Ty McDuffey
Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. — I'm a full-time writer, author, and content creator, back home at the Lake of the Ozarks after roughly eight years spent in Kansas City, Montana, and New Mexico.
I've spent years writing and creating website content for marketing agencies, businesses, media outlets, law firms across the United States and Canada, and legal technology companies including LegalMatch and Thomson Reuters FindLaw, with more than 3,000 legal library articles published. That work runs through my company, Elephant Rock Writing & Content Creation, LLC, which is also the imprint behind my 24 books: expungement guides, cannabis law and science, Ozarks real estate, memoir, fiction, poetry, and a children's story.
Before the law degree, I was a newspaperman. I edited two rural Montana weeklies, the Big Horn County News and the Big Timber Pioneer, and that background still shapes everything I write. It's also why I built Rural News Wire, a fully automated daily newspaper covering the Lake, and why the blog here reads more like dispatches than posts.
I own Duff Radio, a music, podcast, and documentary platform covering the Kansas City underground rap scene, with 400,000+ views across 50+ countries. I'm a self-taught audio engineer, producer, and DJ working in FL Studio, Pro Tools, Audacity, and Serato, and a videographer shooting on a Blackmagic 6K Pocket cinema camera with editing and color work in DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop.
I hold a Juris Doctor from UMKC School of Law and a Professional Writing degree from Missouri State University, where I'm an alumnus of the football program. I was raised at the Lake of the Ozarks, and I'm raising my own family here now.
