Two settlements, not one. Lower Town sat at the mouth of the creek where the steamboats landed; Upper Town stood about half a mile up the valley and held the courthouse square. Click any label to walk there.
Old Linn Creek was razed in the winter of 1930–31 and no measured survey of the town survives in general circulation. This model is built from the written record: building counts, materials, dimensions and relative positions come from the sources below. Where the record fixes a fact, the model follows it. Where it does not, the gaps are filled with ordinary Ozark county-seat vernacular of the period, and those buildings are labeled as representative rather than identified. Street geometry is schematic. Distances between Lower Town and Upper Town are held to roughly the recorded half mile.
